January 1-3, 2011 Days Seven through Nine

Not very much happened during these days so I am going to put these three days together.  One thing that happened is that I started eating on the 1st.  Well if you can call it that.... they put the food down my feeding tube so I can't taste it but I imagine it is pretty good. That did not last long because on the 2nd I threw up and my belly started to get more inflamed which showed the doctors that I was not handling my food well so they stopped feeding me and so they put me back on my antibiotics because they fear that I have an infection in my belly.

Also Miss Martha put my first pair of booties on my feet.  The other nurses told her that they thought they were ugly but I liked them and so did mommy and daddy. So we did not care what the other nurses thought!  They were kind of big on me but mommy thought they looked like fire fighter boots!

On the 3rd my mommy told me that my great grandpa died.  I wish I could have met him before he died but I know that he is in a better place with God.  Maybe now he is angel looking over me.  That would be nice.  But mommy and daddy are going to be gone for a while to go to the visitation and funeral so they will not get to see me as much.  I tried to tell them it was ok because the nurses take great care of me but mommy and daddy still have a hard time with being gone.

HI EVERYONE!

Finally also on the 3rd  daddy went back to work.  I sure do miss him when he is gone.  I know he has to work to help make my life better but I wish that he could stick around.  I look forward to seeing he everyday!

December 31, 2010 Day Six

Last night was my first scary night.  The part of my brain that tells me to breath is not mature and forgot to tell me the breath four times!  I don't mean to do it but it is something that babies my age and size often deal with.  They call them "episodes" and they scary my mommy and daddy half to death.  So you will never guess what they give me to keep this from happening!  Caffeine!  Yup just like the cup of coffee that keeps you going in the morning, my caffeine keeps my brain alert and keeps my brain working!  Some babies have to go home on this for a while but I promise mommy and daddy I am going to try my hardest not to!
Also today the nurse decided to lay me on my belly for a while.  I love it!  I sleep so well on my belly I have no idea what is happening around me and to be honest I really don't care.  I put babies on their belly because it helps with our breathing but the reason for me was a little different.  Well I was tired of sitting still and wanted a little bit of exercise this afternoon and I might have knocked off a few of my sensors... OOPS!  O-well I love my belly now and I hope that I get put on it more often.

I also have a nurse named Stephanie that I love she takes such good care of me and she may pay special attention to me ;) Well mommy and daddy really like her to so tonight they asked her to be one of my primary caregivers.  That means that every time Miss Stephanie is working she will be my nurse!  I am so happy I really like her.

December 30, 2010 Day Five

Still no ventilator... so take that breathing machine!  Now just to get rid of the CPAK  not a big fan of this either but it is better then having something breathing for me.  Today I got my first bath form Miss Martha one of our favorite nurses.  Daddy  was there and he got to hold me.  When mama found out that he held me she started crying.  She was very jealous that he got to before her, but later when mama came up to see me she got a big surprise, the nurse let mama and daddy hold me for 15 mins each!  It felt so nice to be in their arms, like I was finally where I belonged!  Also today they got my new IV put in so they took out the cords in my belly.  Time for my belly button to heal.

December 29, 2010 Day Four

Today mommy and daddy got to meet Dr. G.  He is a very cool doctor.  He said that he is very impressed with me.  He loves how full of life I am and what a wiggle worm I am!  He is not too concerned with my belly because he sees it in alot with preemies.  Tomorrow we are going to try to start me on milk.  Mama has been pumping like a crazy lady so there is plenty for me to eat, however I will only start on a few drops at a time.  They also found out today that my extra valve in my heart (bet you didn't know all babies are born with one) closed off on its own, which is a really good thing because otherwise they would have had to do surgery.  GO ME another victory!  No one is gonna slow this peanut down.  Oh I almost forgot the nurse today gave me the best thing I have ever had in my short life.  They call it a pacifier!  And boy oh boy what a great thing it is!  I love it and cannot get enough....even if I am alseep!

December 28, 2010 Day Three

I am still off my ventilator.... no way they are going to get to put that thing back down my throat.  But the bad part of that is my CPAK is putting air in my belly and my belly is starting to get really big.  Daddy says I am just starting to look more like him. He is so silly!  They also had to put special lines in my belly button to give me my medicine, now they are tyring to get those out so they have to put a big IV in my arm.  My veins are to tiny that the first person who tried could not do it, so the lines will stay in for a little bit more.  Mama and daddy come everyday to see me.  Mama is VERY sore. She still cries when it is just the two of us.  She also says prayers over me all the time.  God is good mama he will help.

December 27, 2010 Day Two

Ventilator.... I don't need no stinking ventilator!  I am now on what is called a CPAK.  It still helps me to breath by forcing air in  my lungs but I am still doing most of the work on my own.  Mommy came to visit me today.  She cried and cried.  I know she is not sad that I came but I think she feel guilty that her body could not help me stay in as long as I should have.  It is ok Mommy you did your best, now it is my turn to do mine.  She is scared to touch me because I am hooked up to so many things.  But my feet are free so she rubs them and touches them alot.  I love my feet being rubbed so that is fine with me.  I know mommy and daddy love me very much.  Daddy is here every two hours bring milk up to freeze and he always stops and visits for a while.  He is already smitten with me and some day I will for sure use that to my advantage... hehe!  They noticed today that something looks wrong with my belly.  It is bigger then it should be and a little dark in color.  They told mommy this is a common problem with preemies but I am going to try my hardest to get it right.  Also they said that I may have to get a blood transfusion so that my hemoglobin level increases.  Daddy is going to ask about donating blood for me!  How nice he is to be willing to do that I would be blessed to have his blood in my veins.

December 26, 2010 Day One

24 hours!  Are you kidding me?  Daddy just told me that my mommy can't come see me for 24 hours!  I bet mommy is having a really hard time with that!  Oh well I must push forward and keep getting better.  That stupid tube they but in my chest to breath... I hate it and soon I will prove to them that I do not need it but it has been such a long day that for now I will just rest.  I am not longer in the Ziplock baggie they put me in to keep warm and wet.  Now I am on my own to do that.  They also have me under this bright light that is supposed to help my liver and keep me from being yellow, I don't really mind it because it is nice and warm but these stupid glasses they keep putting on me really tick me off because I can see NOTHING with them on.  O well like I said before it has been such a long day that sleeping is probably best anyway.
